The name has been coined from combining the words ioniser and oxidise. Ionisers (or ionizer in US spelling) have long been recognised for their ability to keep water clean, fresh and free of toxic chemicals
Unfortunately, until now, they did have one drawback - Ionisers were unable to oxidise organic loading in the water.
The term organic loading refers to material from living organisms such as skin tissue, hair, oils and greases from skin or sunscreen. Leaves, pollen, dust and insects that find their way into the pool are other common sources of organic loading.
Organic material in the water causes discolouration, unpleasant odours and even provides nutrient for undesirable bacteria and algae.
The most common method to eliminate organic loading is called oxidation.
In swimming pools and spa pools particularly, this means that undesirable chemicals still have to be added to the water to oxidise the organic loading, negating the potential benefits and practicalities of installing an iodiser.
The Iodiser™ solves this huge problem by providing electrochemical oxidation of organic material in the water. Whilst this form of oxidising is becoming widespread in industrial water treatment, until now it has been a completely separate function to ionisation.
In the patented Iodiser™ the two processes have been ingeniously interwoven in a single, user friendly, highly efficient device. The unique design of the Iodiser™ enables all of the electrodes used to interact together to provide far more oxidation and at a lower cost than what conventional technology allows.
The Iodiser™ is a patented device developed by BioN Water Synergetics Pty Ltd, an Australian registered company who specialises in non-chemical water treatment and disinfection alternatives.
Installing an Iodiser™ offers these advantages:
